Service Projects

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service. There are five avenues of service that serve as philosophical cornerstones and foundations of club activity. They are Club, Vocational, Community, International and New Generations. Within those five areas of service, the Rotary Club of Central Bucks engages in the following activities:

Club Service

Club Service focuses on strengthening the partnerships between club members and ensuring the effective functioning of the club.

Vocational Service

Rotobuild is a program designed and developed by the Central Bucks Rotary to help local Bucks County residents improve their quality of life. Under the Rotabuild Program, Rotarians perform in-home projects that address accessibility & life safety issues for individuals and families who are financially unable to complete such projects on their own. Rotabuild assists the elderly, veterans and handicapped people through projects such as replacing door latches for easier access, installing grab bars for independence in the bathroom, and installing wheelchair accessible ramps.

Community Service

Bucks County Housing Group’s Doylestown Food Pantry
The Bucks County Housing Group operates three community food pantries located in Penndel, Doylestown and Milford Square. The food pantries are independently operated and funded and the Group is entirely responsible for the maintenance of and staffing of the three sites. Every quarter, the Central Bucks Rotary donates time, food and service to the Doylestown food pantry and the families it serves.

Roxy Reading Therapy Dogs Program
This program received a 2012 Rotary District Grant to expand their existing courthouse therapy dog program. The money is used to provide stuffed, toy dogs and live therapy dogs to comfort children who have to appear in Dependency Court in the Bucks County Courthouse. The Central Bucks Rotary members volunteer in the program.

Fundraising Events
Throughout the year, our rotary club holds small fundraising events that are often impromptu and inspired by a need in the community. Some examples include our December 2013 fundraiser for the Huynh Family and

International Service

In 2012, ShelterBox became a Rotary International project partner. Through this partnership Rotary and ShelterBox bring relief and temporary shelter to survivors of disasters worldwide. The project partnership builds on both organizations’ strengths in responding to disasters all over the world. The Central Bucks Rotary has purchased ShelterBoxes that have been deployed internationally, including in South Sudan and in earthquake-ravaged Japan.

New Generations Service

Youth Exchange Program
Since 1963, the rotary clubs in our district, District 7430, have participated in the International Youth Exchange program. Over the course of the district’s 40 year history, clubs have hosted and sponsored well over 1,000 students here and abroad. Our rotary supports an exchange student each year.

The Central Bucks Rotary continues to look for ways to grow in all areas of service.
